People with spinal cord injury are encouraged to apply to SSIT for help with the provision of equipment needed to promote independence and good health.

Please help us continue our work providing equipment and facilities for the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre and assisting people with spinal cord injury living in the region.



Santa Fun Run 2011

Thank you to all who took part in our Santa Fun Run in Salisbury.  We really enjoyed the day and hope you did too!



Valuation Day & Garden Party

Trustee Emma Crofton and her team of helpers organised a Valuation Day and Garden Party in Petersfield on 19 July raising over £4000 for SSIT.  Over 200 people attended bringing items to be valued by experts from Ewbank Auctioneers and 'Off the List'.  Our thanks go to the organising committee and to Mr & Mrs James Bodenham for hosting a really lovely event.



John O'Groats to Lands End

Alexander Ludgate and friends embarked on this iconic cycle ride in May 2010.  Alex, whose father was a patient in the Spinal Centre some years ago, raised over £400 for SSIT - well worth the saddle sore!



The West Cornwall 'Buffs'

John Palmer and fellow members of the West Cornwall Buffaloes (the ‘Buffs’) fundraised for SSIT during 2010 and raised over £4500.  Many thanks to all those involved, furthering awareness of SSIT to the western most tip of the catchment area.



Millfield School

Ex-patient Edmund Rhind-Tutt and fellow students from Millfield School and Strode College returned to the Spinal Centre in June 2011 to present a donation of equipment and a cheque for £1000 to SSIT.  A series of concerts were organised and over £5000 was raised - thank you to all!




Tisbury School 2010

Tisbury School raised over £4000 for SSIT during 2010.  Fundraising activities included collections in Salisbury Hospital and Marlborough High Street and wrist band sales in school but the highlight was a 12 mile walk from Old Sarum to Coombe Bissett via Salisbury City.  Well done to everyone who took part - we are very grateful!



2010 Santa Fun Run at Longleat

It was a bitterly cold morning, and snow lay on the ground, but 300 Santas turned up for our 2010 Santa Fun Run at Longleat.



Eating History at Longleat House

On 19 November 2010 80 guests joined us for wonderful evening at Longleat House.  A house tour was organised by Longleat's historian Dr Kate Harris and an Elizabethan feast was enjoyed by all.



Hadrian’s Wall challenge

On one of the hottest weekends of the summer, five teams of intrepid walkers covered 84 miles in under 48 hours and in so doing raised more than £12,000 for SSIT.



John O’Groats to Lands End sponsored cycle

In July 2010, Rob Padwick and his nephew, Elliot Barlow, successfully undertook a sponsored cycle ride from John O’Groats to Lands End. They cycled over 100 miles each day for ten days, covering over a 1,000 miles.



2009 Santa Fun run at Longleat

Over 300 Santas took part and together we raised over £6,000



Indian dinner

Bollywood music, stunning silk saris and rose petal strewn tables help set the scene for the SSIT Indian Dinner held in November 2008. Hosted by Anba Soopramanien, Consultant at the DOCSTC and SSIT Trustee, the dinner raised over £9,000.



Three peaks challenge May 2007

Smith & Williamson raises over £80,000 for Salisbury Spinal Injury Trust

The challenge involved driving between Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden, a total distance of 475 miles and climbing an impressive 3,400m – all in twenty-four hours.
