What is spinal cord injury?
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is caused by damage to the spinal cord resulting in paralysis, which can be total or partial. There is presently no cure for SCI and for the majority, paralysis is permanent.
The consequences of SCI are devastating. In an instant a person can go from being fit and mobile to being paralysed and dependent. They lose the ability to feel, move their limbs, pass urine or open their bowels normally.
