A former patient of the Salisbury spinal centre is cycling 70 miles on a hand cycle to raise funds for SSIT.
Andy Houghton, spent seven months in Salisbury in 2005 when a motocross accident left him with a spinal cord injury. Andy works at Vodafone’s HQ in Newbury and he will be taking on the company’s Big Bold Challenge on Thursday 25 September. Employees are invited to cycle the 70 mile distance from Newbury to London’s Olympic Park and raise funds for their chosen charity. Andy chose to support the spinal centre that cared for him.
Andy commented: “There will be lots of people taking part but I’m quite sure I’ll be the only one using a handcycle!”
If all goes to plan the challenge should take around six hours.
