Sainsburys Quiz Night

Our friends at Sainsbury’s in Salisbury are organising a SSIT Quiz Night at the Stockman’s Lounge, Salisbury Livestock Market on Thursday 11 February at 7.30pm. Hosted by Graham Seaman of BBC Radio Wiltshire, this is one event you can’t afford to miss. To register your team, please fill in the Entry Form and email it back to Vicki at Sainsbury’s. Payment can be made on the night.

Geoff Holt’s Atlantic Dream

In January 2010 Geoff Holt, a patient of the DoCSTC in 1984, became the first quadriplegic to sail the Atlantic single-handed. The 3,000 mile journey took him a month to complete, across some of the most hostile waters in the world.

Geoff, an experienced sailor before his accident, became the first disabled person to sail single-handed around Great Britain in 2007. His overriding desire in attempting his Atlantic voyage, is to inspire others to do something positive with their lives.

He commented: "It's not about being disabled. It's not about sailing the Atlantic Ocean. It's about demonstrating that disability need not be a barrier to achieving something positive in your life".

Geoff will be talking about his Atlantic Challenge at The Nuffield Theatre, Southampton on the evening of Monday 24 May. Hadrian’s Wall Challenge

We are planning to walk Hadrian’s Wall - a distance of 84 miles - in 48 hours from start to finish!

To achieve this with minimum disruption to working life, the event will start on Friday 25 June 2010 where teams will start walking at staggered times from 11 am to 3 pm and aim to finish between 11 am and 3 pm on Sunday 27 June 2010.

You can walk it in relays of two people per 21 miles, or take more than 48 hours. All we ask is that you start walking between 11 am and 3 pm on Friday 25 June. Teams must comprise a minimum of three people and a maximum of five.

Each team must raise a minimum of £1,000. Further details are available on the PDF forms below:

Abseil at Avon Gorge, Bristol

We’re looking for 100 volunteers to abseil down Avon Gorge in Bristol on Sunday 12 September 2010.

Once again the Royal Artillery Recruiting Team will be running the event so you can guarantee that it will be lots of fun and a truly rewarding experience.
