2009 Awards

In 2009 SSIT granted awards totaling £69,456. Nearly £20,000 of this amount was used to fund equipment for the Spinal Centre and allowed for the purchase of an advanced Pressure Imaging System (which measures pressure on the body where it is in contact with a wheelchair cushion), while just under £50,000 was used to provide specialised equipment for 22 individuals.

2008 Awards

In 2008 grants totaling nearly £19,000 were made to applicants to help fund the following items:

- speech equipment
- fertility aids
- specialist mattresses & beds
- powered wheelchairs
- part-funding for IVF treatment

In addition SSIT provided funds of over £55,000 for the Spinal Centre. This allowed for the purchase of the Bedside Independence System (a new nurse call and entertainment system) along with various items of equipment and a Patient Recreational Fund.

2007 Awards

In 2007 grants totaling nearly £32,000 were made to ten individuals and over £48,000 was spent on the equipment for the Spinal Centre. Equipment purchased included:

- powered and manual wheelchairs
- hand cycles
- shower cushions and chairs
- specialist beds
- stair lifts
- fertility aids
- drink aids
