Staff at DOCSTC
The Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre (DOCSTC) is a centre of excellence
specialising in the total management of patients paralysed following spinal cord
injury. It is estimated that there are over 1000 cases of spinal cord injury
in
the UK each year and approximately 100 of these are admitted to the DOCSTC.
The Centre, based in Salisbury District Hospital, provides care for patients
in the south and south west of England, a population of 11 million people.
The DOCSTC offers a range of comprehensive services including acute (surgical
and
non-surgical) treatment, emotional support, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up.

Housed
under one roof are Consultants in Spinal Injuries, Spinal Orthopaedic
Surgery, Urology & General
Surgery. The Centre also provides specialist Nurses, Physiotherapists and
Occupational Therapists, a Consultant Clinical
Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and Dietician.
The DOCSTC provides a holistic approach to spinal treatment which deals with
all levels of injury including ventilator-dependent patients.
The Centre focuses on community reintegration through work and sport and
provides patients with life-long care. The DOCSTC is committed to providing
a high standard of quality care through an
ongoing education, research, development and
staff training programme.
